Illustration of me, Michael Oxborrow

Welcome

Hello, my name is Michael Oxborrow. I am a graphic/web designer from Cambridge in the UK. After many years of captivity in the retail and office sector I made my bid for freedom. In 2006 I decided that no matter what it took I would follow my dream of becoming a graphic artist. I began to learn Photoshop in much greater depth. Soon I was also becoming competent with Adobe's Illustrator and Golive! programs and so decided to build my first website (Sky in the Pie), on which I displayed my Artwork.

Background

My good friend and mentor Darren Tarrant (programming guru who has been coding websites since 2002), hooked me up with some content work at Granite5. They were impressed with what I produced and offered me a job as a graphic designer. That was back in September 2007. Since then I've learnt how to code with HTML and CSS and am becoming quite proficient at web design. I love my new career and advise anyone not happy in theirs to do what they can to pursue their dreams.

I’m still working as a full time designer at Granite5. In my free time, I maintain and develop my own website: Creative internet designs (this one).

I intend to use this site to showcase my work and to write articles and tutorials that could help others, wanting to learn my trade, to gain the skills needed to build websites with great usabilty, accessibility and aesthetics.

Enjoy!
